This conversation between esteemed government and policy leaders will aim to bridge the divide, and explore how we can learn from our colleagues and neighbors across the aisle on where progress is most possible.

We often think of progress on gun violence as reliant on the government to act. But that’s not the case. Some of the most innovative and effective strategies to reduce gun violence are being led by the private sector. This panel will feature some of these leaders, who will discuss their efforts and explore the keys to innovating out of this public health crisis.

The Innovation Ecosystem: Solving Challenges through Private Capital, Investment & Philanthropy

Like solving for other critical social challenges, there is a role to play in gun violence prevention for private philanthropic support, social innovation and entrepreneurship, and innovative tools and solutions. This conversation will explore some of the wide-ranging ways that capital is being deployed and invested to solve the gun violence challenge and where more focus needs to be placed in the future.

This session will examine the correlation of loneliness and suicide by exploring how social isolation exacerbates mental health challenges. Experts will discuss innovative prevention strategies, community-based interventions, and the critical role of connection in addressing this urgent public health crisis.

Going Local – How Healthcare Can Work at the State and City Level to Sustain Meaningful Change

Even as the federal political landscape is shifting, local and state government leaders will continue to lead on the issue of gun violence prevention and will focus on finding new ways to reduce gun violence and support survivors. Centering the voices of community members impacted by gun violence and building national, nonpartisan coalitions have been central pieces of this work. This panel will feature state and local officials, as well as a survivor advocate for a conversation about the progress they’ve made over the past year and their plans for 2025.
